Nex was teased in December by the trailer, which stated: "The prophecy foretold of an ancient warrior, imprisoned in a dungeon deep beneath Trollheim. A force so powerful and evil, the four armies that were at odds joined to contain its evil. They referred to her as the Fifth General. She is said to have a stash of artifacts with immense power, and that the enchanted seal is the only thing that separates the brave from her wicked wrath."

This morning (January 5) Nex is unleashed on Old School Runescape after 90 percent of the community has endorsed the new update. Players can now team with clans of up around 80 players in order to take on the boss. Based on the information, Nex is also able to be battled solo in a private game. Instances are freed after completing The Hard Combat Achievements tier, at which point you are able to purchase an instance for 100,000 GP to enter. The higher Combat Achievement tiers lower this cost.

Dwelling in Nex, which is located in the Ancient Prison beneath the God Wars Dungeon, Nex can only be reached once those who have played the game have completed the Desert Treasure quest and a mini-quest to unlock an access point called the Frozen Door. This access point, which is frozen, has existed since the time that the Dungeon was first opened, but it has been kept sealed until now! When inside the Prison the players have to slay through a massive army (featuring Spiritual Warriors, Mages, Rangers, and Blood Reavers) before reaching Nex herself.

Defeating Nex could earn players valuable rewards like an Ancient Godsword, Zaryte crossbow, the iconic Torva armor set, and much more. Every player who takes part in the battle has a chance of obtaining an item that is unique as well as the best players getting more items.
