Final Fantasy XIV lets you balance any character's job, including crafting jobs. Instead of gaining experience points by building dungeons, crafting jobs improve students. Until level 50, you won't find all the crafting levels in one place. There are only tradecraft levels 1-45 in the starting cities. Most importantly, only certain cities have certain crafts available.
Uda: Alchemist, Goldsmith, Weaver.
Limsa Lominsa: weaponsmith, blacksmith, cook.
Gridania: carpenter, tanner.
Fortunately, the higher Tradecraft levels are located in one place depending on the level range. Tradecraft levels 50-58 are located in Ishgard. Levels 60-68 in Kugane (Kugane). Levels in Crystal Star are 70-78. This pattern continues as the cap increases.
