Battlebots Algorithmic Rankings V2
Alright! I changed a few things from the last version of the Algorithmic Rankings. 1. I dumped TrueSkill, so now it’s just down to Glicko and Elo to calculate ratings, and I did this because instead of calculating the average position, I was calculating the average rating they got, and TrueSkill’s way of rating is way different from the other two, and it changed the rankings immensely. Also, I took out Episode 15 and replaced it with Episode 16. With this in mind, here you go. I’ll also post the link at the bottom of the rankings for how I did it in case you want to point out any mistakes. A KO under 100 seconds results in 5 points, a KO is 4 points, a UD is 3 points, and a SD is 2 points for the winner and 1 point for the loser. A rumble victory takes off 50 points to balance it out.

I’m in first year computer science and I’m taking discrete mathematics right now and I’ve heard that I will apply it in courses like algorithm structure and analysis and stuff like that and I’m just wondering just how similar the stuff I’m learning right now will be applied or how much of it is applied. Like right now all I’m doing is proofs so how will the concepts I’m learning be incorporated in future classes or real world applications if anyone could clarify? I’m currently 24 and majored in Russian. I have 47k to pay off for my first degree, which isn’t marketable like I originally thought. If I join the Air Force I can get it payed off and go back to college for free. I’m trying to figure out if it’s too late to go back to college for comp sci at 28-29.

What kinds of resources / forums do students use? Are there facebook groups for computer science students in, say, warsaw university? I know that in America a lot of forums and groups are active to find things like hackathons and the like, but where do university students in Poland studying computer science look to?

Also when it comes to recruiting and finding jobs, do students use sites like Indeed? Or are there other , more region specific things?

Dla mnie największym problemem jest przyzwyczajenie się do innej klawiatury. Rozwiązaniem byłoby pozwolenie na użycie własnej klawiatury w trakcie zawodów.
Większość klawiatur nie ma możliwości programowania makr ani innych podobnych funkcjonalności, więc o "nieuczciwość" to tu raczej dość trudno. A jeżeli organizatorzy mają pełny dostęp do tego co zawodnik robi na komputerze, to oszustwa dałoby się raczej łatwo wykryć.

Jeżeli jedyną opcią w tym kierunku jest opcja a), to jestem za a).

Z punktu widzenia osoby czytającej czyjąś biblioteczkę: Często interfejs biblioteczki jest nieintuicyjny, albo są jakieś niepisane założenia, albo easter eggi (https://github.com/mareksom/acmlib/blob/finaly/code/kamil/5_geo_lib.cpp#L165). Ja osobiście bym nie chciał używać czyjejś biblioteczki w ciemno, chyba że bym już nie miał wyboru, albo gdyby ta biblioteczka była ładnie udokumentowana (nie wierzę, żeby ktoś taką miał).

Z punktu widzenia osoby udostępniającej swoją biblioteczkę: Wszystko mi jedno, moja i tak jest publiczna.

W ogóle to jeśli takie biblioteczki miałyby być w wersji elektronicznej, to ten warunek i tak niczego nie zmienia, bo każdy może sobie biblioteczkę zaszyfrować. Jeśli w wersji papierowej, to trzeba by było zrobić kopię każdemu, co by mocno marnowało drzewa (albo pieniądze – zależy co kogo bardziej przekonuje).

Jeśli chciałoby się w podobny sposób zwiększyć szanse zawodników, którzy własnej biblioteczki nie mają, to można by było po prostu im poradzić, żeby użyli jednej z wielu dostępnych publicznie biblioteczek (albo nawet wszystkich).

Zastanawiam się, jak podchodzicie do swoich biblioteczek.
